Vic: Lightning stikes more bushfires
Victorian firefighters are on alert for new outbreaks .. as lightning strikes across
the state threaten to spark more bushfires.
Lightning triggered seven new fires in the state's north-east overnight .. and firefighters
are monitoring another four minor outbreaks near Mildura and Horsham.
A spokesman for the Department of Sustainability and Environment says six of the seven
outbreaks in the north-east have been contained.
The spokesman says the remaining blaze .. in the Angora Range near Swifts Creek ..
is a small fire and not cause for concern.
Meanwhile .. the two massive bushfires in Gippsland and the state's north-east continue to burn.
The spokesman says firefighters are continuing to reinforce control lines around the
blazes .. but are no closer to extinguishing them.
